It has been SO cold this winter, and we are just in Georgia! Amazingly we got up to 6 inches of snow the other day and I decided to treat The Mutts to a little something special to warm them up. We won a few cases of Caru Chicken Stew from Golden Woofs and decided to do a review!

Caru nourish with love. Natural dog food with added vitamins & minerals. Real Chicken Stew. With carefully selected chicken, veggies & fruit. No wheat, gluten, corn, soy or by-products. Packed for purity & freshness. Made in USA

Caru means "to love" in Welsh, and this name totally makes sense when you serve your dog these natural stews which can be served by itself or with food. This stew is made in the USA in small batches, with lots of vitamins, protein, and veggies. I love that there is no wheat, gluten, corn, soy or by-products and all the ingredients are verified by the FDA!

Tetra Pak Protects What's Good. Ingredients for the stew

The ingredients are wonderful! I can actually read and understand what they are and they are at the top of the list! The packaging is nice too. If you do not use all of it, you can close up the case and store it in the fridge.

Chicken stew for dogs. Bits of chicken, green beans and carrots

Ok, ok, it doesn't look super appetizing at first, but look! You can see the bits of meat and veggies! Honestly, this looks very similar to what you would buy in a can for humans. Yummy! I poured the stew into a microwave safe bowl, microwaved it for a little under 20 seconds to get it warm, then served it to the girls in their usual bowl.

Yum! Bailey approved too!

The girls really enjoyed their stew! They barely came up for air! Lol! Seeing all the veggies reminded me of the rats and how I feed them fresh food every day. Maybe they would like some?

"slurrrp!"

The boys enjoyed their little bowl of stew as well! I left it in their cage overnight and by morning it was eaten up!

In a nutshell...
  • Caru Natural Stews for Dogs has FDA approved ingredients and is made in the USA
  • Veggie and meat ingredients can actually be seen
  • The case can be closed up and stored in the fridge
  • One case sells for around $4.99 to $5.39 in pet stores
  • One case feeds a dog up to 13lbs if fed alone.

  • You can also find the stew on in our Amazon store here.

I think that it would be a bit expensive to feed your big dog Caru stews exclusively, but you can supplement their existing dog food. I love all the ingredients and see this a very high-quality dog food!

  2. Omg it's so cute that the rats ate it too! I heard that GA got hit with snow - my brother was just at Ft. Benning but he left for Italy right before the big front came through. This food looks delicious - I bet my kids would love it!

    1. I'm sure they would! Yeah, we are in northeast GA and I was not expecting that many inches. Thankfully we didn't have all the issues we had last year with ice!
