With winter approaching and cooler weather setting in, it's time to bust out the dog sweaters! The problem is that most sweaters are too thin or they can restrict movement. Thin sweaters can be okay, but they fall apart quickly, and if they are too thick your dog can't move as they should and they end up like Randy in The Christmas Story. This is where Kurgo comes in with their K9 Core Sweater

Kurgo was founded in 2003 by two brothers named Gordie and Kitter Spater. Kitter's dog Zelda loved to jump into the front seat during car rides and to help control that dangerous habit Kitter crafted what would be a prototype of Kurgo's Backseat Barrier. Kurgo is all about traveling with your dog from hiking snowy mountains to taking a stroll down the street and their products are known for their quality and durability. I have quite a few of their products in my house and there's nothing that compares — these items are meant to last. I was given a K9 Core Sweater to review, so let's take a look!

The K9 Core Sweater comes in a variety of vibrant colors, green, gray, orange, blue, red, and purple, and sizes from X-Small to X-Large.

Right off the bat, I could tell that the weight of the sweater is unique to other sweaters I have. Kurgo uses 10 oz knitted fleece in these sweaters which gives them their thickness. The seams look nice and durable and there is even a little reflective bit near the neck. Even with it being thicker than usual sweaters, you can layer this with other Kurgo jackets for more warmth without restricting movement.

The zipper on the back is designed so that you can attach your leash to your dog's harness if need be and there is another zipper on the chest if your dog is wide-chested and needs some extra room.

We took the sweater for a test run at the park with our sweater aficionado, Bailey. It was really easy to put on by pulling the neck hole over her head and using the velcro straps underneath.

The zipper on top was really easy to work with. Her harness has a D-Ring that runs horizontally and I was able to still hook it on the leash with ease. Bailey also was able to run easily while staying warm in the chilly weather.

And overall, just look at it! This sweater looks so nice and compliments Bailey very well. The sweater is also machine washable so no worries about going on muddy adventures...or partaking in the local Georgia clay in Bailey's case. And if somehow the sweater rips or breaks abnormally, Kurgo has a lifetime warranty where they can repair or replace it.

In a nutshell...

  • Kurgo is a brand that focuses on going places with your dog and they are known for their durable and high-quality travel products and gear.
  • The K9 Core Sweater features 10 oz knitted fleece, reflective accents, velcro attachments, and adjustable zippers.
  • The design doesn't restrict movement and can be layered with a coat on top.
  • You can find the Kurgo K9 Core Sweater on their website.

This has to be one of the nicest dog sweaters I've ever come across, and I've come across a lot! It's dog activewear, but still stylish and super functional while being affordably priced. With the quality, I expect this sweater to be in Bailey's clothes drawer for a very long time. I highly recommend the Kurgo K9 Core Sweater for both active and inactive dogs alike!
